Glasgow Diaries Part II: Dream to Reality
February 2018: The day was here, February 12th, 2018, officially the first day of Beecee's whirlwind journey. The car journey was a silent one, mostly. Her dad just reassured her that she would be fine and that he's proud of her for everything she's done so far. Finally arrived at the airport, Beecee said her goodbyes and headed to her gate. It still hadn't hit her that she was officially moving to Scotland. Before she knew it, it was boarding time and off she was to begin her new life.
About 10 hours later with a layover in London, she was finally in Glasgow, Scotland. She called an Uber to take her to her student accommodation. It was evening now and getting dark when she finally arrived, she pressed the intercom of her new building and Tomas, the security guard let her in. Beecee already had her room information, she was given the key fob to her new room, 4A. Beecee followed Tomas as he led her to the elevator and to her room. As she was closing her room door she saw a head peek through from room 4D, it was a girl, "Hi, I'm Momo" she said and Beecee quickly introduced herself. Momo told her that there were 4 girls that lived on this floor, all from different countries, at this point Beecee was exhausted and sleepy from her flight so she politely let Momo know that she was excited to get to know everyone tomorrow and that she needed to get some sleep. They both said good night and went back into their own rooms.
Finally Beecee made it. This was just a simple dream only a couple of months ago and now she was living it. This was the moment, this was the moment while she was shivering in her new room because she didn't know how to turn the heater, was the first time in months that she cried, it finally hit her, she didn't know why she was crying exactly. Was it because she made her dream come true? Was it because she was alone for the very first time? Was she afraid of not knowing what's to come? It was everything, it was the fear of the unknown but as she set up her fitted sheet on her mattress and put her mini Quran on her desk, she turned the lights off and used her North Face fleece jacket as a blanket and went to bed. Tomorrow would be her first day as a master student.
She woke up at 9am the next morning, got ready and headed to the shared kitchen and living area in the student accommodation. No one was there but it was alright, she was excited to go to her first day of class.
